What You Should Know Before Consuming Cannabis

Consuming cannabis can be fun but can also have some not-so-fun side effects if you don’t know what you’re doing. Due to the concentration of THC in cannabis today, one hit might be more than enough to send you into potential overdose territory, resulting in unwanted and unpleasant side effects like dizziness, paranoia, vomiting, or even loss of consciousness! So, before taking that next puff, make sure you have some idea of what’s in your weed and how it can affect you! Here are some tips on what to keep in mind before consuming cannabis!

Know Your Limits – Don’t Overdo It:

You should always test your limits whenever you consume cannabis, whether it’s an edible or a concentrate. If you’re consuming edibles for the first time, start with a small amount and wait 2 hours before consuming more. It may take up to 90 minutes for your body to fully absorb cannabinoids from edibles. This can also vary depending on several factors, including body weight and metabolism, which is why knowing your limits and starting low are key when it comes to consuming edibles.

Don’t Forget To Drink Lots Of Water:

When consuming cannabis, it’s easy to forget about drinking water. But one of the most important things you can do is drink lots of water and stay hydrated. Water helps dilute THC in your system and can help prevent uncomfortable side effects like dry mouth, red eyes, and cottonmouth.

Avoid To Mixing Cannabis With Alcohol Or Other Drugs:

Mixing cannabis with alcohol or other drugs may be tempting because it seems like a good idea at the time, but this could end up being dangerous. This is because many people don’t know their limits when they’re under the influence of both substances and can easily overdose without realizing what’s happening until it’s too late.

Take A Break From Cannabis Every 8 Hours In One Go:

It’s best to avoid exceeding 8 hours of cannabis use without taking a break. Your brain needs time to recover and detox after using cannabis, especially if you’ve been using it daily or multiple times per day. Taking breaks will give your brain cells enough time to rest so they can function properly.

Avoid Driving After Consuming Cannabis:

Driving after consuming cannabis is never a good idea. Driving while high makes you twice as likely to get into an accident, yet 9% of people say they have driven while high. Cannabis affects different people differently and can slow reaction time, impair judgment, lead to drowsiness, increase heart rate and decrease coordination- all things that are difficult to do while driving!

Conclusion
Edibles are a wonderful alternative to smoking cannabis. However, they still carry risks. Educate yourself on how to consume edibles safely and responsibly. Plan ahead and ensure you have snacks on hand to avoid the munchies. Always plan your doses carefully to avoid accidentally ingesting too much THC. Remember that edibles need time to work (up to 2 hours). And never combine cannabis with alcohol or other drugs- this increases the risk of side effects and accidental overdoses! After any period of prolonged cannabis consumption, give your brain a break to recuperate. Whether it’s two days or two weeks, make sure to give your brain some time to relax before you continue consuming cannabis. Lastly, never drive after consuming cannabis! We hope these tips helped you and wish you the best of luck in your cannabis adventures. Happy toking!
